Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine is located in Xianyang, the first capital of China in history. Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine was founded in 1959, moving to Xianyang city, Shaanxi province in 1961. The university has two campuses, with a total area of 616024.4 m2. It was confirmed by the central government in 1978 to be one of the key universities for Chinese medicine, and was among the earliest medical universities that were authorized by the Ministry of Education in 1981 to grant master’s degree. In the year of 1990, Shaanxi university was approved as one of the first higher education units to accept international students and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan by the Ministry of National Education.
There are six secondary colleges, such as Basic Medicine College, Clinical TCM College, Clinical TCM combination with Modern Medicine College, Clinical Medicine College, Pharmaceutical College, and Advanced Education College, etc.； eight academic teaching departments, such as Dept. of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Dept. of Nursing, Dept. of Medical Technology, Dept. of Public Health, Dept. of Humanities and Science, Dept. of English, Dept. of Sports, and Dept. of Society and Science, etc.； two affiliated hospitals directly under the supervision of the university, 10 affiliated hospitals indirectly under the supervision of the university, 1 GMP pharmaceutical factory and 1 medical history museum.
