Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) is the country's top postgraduate medical school. The Institute of Postgraduate Medical Research (IPGMR), which was founded in December 1965. The government turned IPGMR into a Medical University in 1998 in order to improve the country's capabilities for higher medical education and research.
