Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was initially named after S.M.Kirov. Later in the year 1991, the name was changed and kept after Abu Nasir Al-Farabi. He was a great scientist, thinker, and scholar. He was the second teacher at the university.
In 1934 when Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was established, courses in four faculties have introduced the Faculties of Biology, Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry.
